Great to see those who attended. Here are the actions and main points from the meeting.
It was agreed by those who attended that I would chair the ESURG meetings going forward with Gavin acting as vice chair.
You First will be moving forward with a Trauma Informed Care (TIC) approach for new beneficiaries, current beneficiaries are being reviewed. ESURG will be invited to take part on TIC training. Details of the training provider and dates are not available yet but I will keep you all informed once I know anything about it.
There will be a breakfast meeting at You First (Bon Marche Meeting Room) on 26th April 11am-12pm. Diane, the head of programme will be detailing the new objectives and direction for You First over the next four years.
It was discussed that the ESURG terms of reference might need updating. Please find attached the paper circulated at the meeting. Please forward any comments to Dave and myself. We will write up a draft to review at the next meeting for sign off before we hand it to the Core Strategic Group. - Action: Dave and Matthew to create draft
The "reference" part of ESURG was under question today. Should we change the name of our group or just make it clearer what we do.
Mental Health Film
Maybe include a section in the film to talk about the how mental ill health is treated in the media, esp. film and television - Action - Matthew to work on this
Look at how mental health problems appear or get worse in prison. Look at Francis Crook twitter - Action: Email keyworkers to maybe interview beneficiaries who have this seen first hand, in themselves or others - Matthew to do this
Contact other service user groups both locally and nationwide to learn from each other - Action Matthew
There was an update for the website I forgot to mention.
Finally, for Gavin (and anyone else who needs it) Google Docs has a dictation facility with voice recognition to put your every word into text. Find more information here https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/google-docs-voice-typing-productivity/
